An Ontological Shift: From Software That Describes Reality to AI That Becomes Part of It
For decades, information systems remained tools.
They recorded the state of reality, executed logic encoded by humans, and waited for the next
instruction. The boundary was clear: humans had intentions, while systems executed them.
AI is beginning to break this order.
Modern AI systems can interpret context, maintain memory, build working representations of
situations, choose subsequent actions, use tools, and change the state of their environment.
They do not need to be conscious to acquire operational agency.
At that point, we are no longer simply deploying software.
We are introducing a new operational actor into the organization.
The most important questions therefore cease to be:
Which model should we use?
How accurate is it?
Instead, we begin asking:
What exists from the system's perspective?
What does it recognize as an event?
What does it preserve as memory?
How does it represent goals, constraints, and consequences?
Who or what is allowed to act?
Where does an AI decision end and human responsibility begin?
These may sound like ontological questions, but their consequences are entirely practical.
They determine data architecture, the boundaries of autonomy, security, auditability, accountability,
and ultimately whether multiple AI agents form an intelligent system or merely automate existing
chaos.
The presentation combines an ontological perspective with the practical architecture of modern AI
systems. It shows how organizations change when perception, memory, reasoning, and action are
distributed across humans, models, data, tools, and business processes.
Our RAG starts where most RAG systems are already finished. There is no previously indexed knowledge base waiting for a question. Instead, KYC analysts upload new documents or document sets on demand, and the system must immediately find the answers, locate precise supporting evidence, highlight the relevant text on the original pages, and produce a consolidated CDD pack.
How do you build an AI agent capable of analysing complex mortgage applications while remaining transparent, reliable, and compliant? Sebastian will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the Mortgage Assistant Agent, an AI system designed to support mortgage specialists in application analysis. The presentation will explore how Large Language Models, business rules, and specialised tools work together to retrieve data, perform validations, analyse complex mortgage cases, and generate recommendations for human review. It will also cover key architectural decisions, implementation challenges, and lessons learned from building Agentic AI in a regulated financial environment.
Generative AI can accelerate almost every step of software development, from planning and architecture discussions to code generation, testing, code reviews, and documentation. But if AI produces a growing share of our code, how do we ensure developers still understand, trust, and maintain the systems they ship? This panel explores where the balance lies between maximizing productivity gains and preserving the deep engineering knowledge required to operate, troubleshoot, and evolve production systems.
In modern media environments, multilingual content processing has become an important capability. This talk presents the design and implementation of an integrated translation and Text-to-Speech (TTS) workflow developed as part of the VoD platform for a news television. This milestone focused on building the pipeline capable of transforming raw transcriptions into high-quality translated text and natural-sounding synthesized speech with support of generative AI. We will explore the challenges of integrating these capabilities into production media workflows, discuss evaluation strategies, and highlight lessons learned from deploying them to a production environment. Attendees will gain insights into building multilingual processing systems suitable for large-scale editorial and broadcast use cases.
Wiktor Głuszek is an AI Engineer at BEC, where he designs and builds production-grade AI workflows and agentic systems for the banking sector. With a background spanning data science and consulting, he has delivered AI and process-optimization projects for a wide range of clients, turning complex business processes into reliable, scalable automation. His work centers on bringing agentic systems into banking, where cost efficiency is a core design constraint, from token caching to optimizing LLM-driven workflows at enterprise scale. He works primarily with Python, PydanticAI, and Azure-based RAG solutions, bridging cutting-edge AI capabilities with the operational and regulatory realities of enterprise IT.
